Temperature and Composition Dependence of the Thermodynamic Properties of an Aqueous Solution of 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Formate and 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Acetate

New experimental data on the thermodynamic properties of imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) and {IL + water} solutions are presented. The isothermal (vapor liquid) phase equilibrium (VLE) density binary mixtures composed 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium formate, [EMIM][HCOO], or acetate, [EMIM][CH3COO], water demonstrated. were measured at temperatures from 298.15 to 348.15 K over a wide IL mole fraction under ambient pressure. Both ILs delivered by IoLiTec, content was determined Karl–Fischer titration technique. thermophysical pure ILs, that is, glass-transition temperature, heat capacity change, temperature enthalpy melting, differential scanning calorimetry VLE has been an ebulliometric method 338.15 368.15 pressures up 85 kPa. tested for consistency using Van Ness test. nonrandom two-liquid model equation used correlate data. aqueous solution as function IL’s range. empirical equations applied correlation. From {[EMIM][CH3COO] (1) (2)} system, excess molar volumes correlated Redlich–Kister equation.
